SINIGANG by: Marie Aubrey J. Villaceran

Good day!

I'm Beatrix Y. Calugay from 12 HUMSS D and I'm here to discuss the story Sinigang by: Aubrey J. Villaceran.

Before I explain the moral values of the story "Sinigang" I will have a short summary of it.

So in the story of "Sinigang" there is a girl named Liza and her Rita Loleng. It test how Liza, deals with the issue of her father who an extra marital affair with Sylvia and consequently had a son Lem. The story takes place Liza's home where she together with her Tita Loleng prepared sinigang for the family. While on the wake she meet the mother of her half brother or mistress of her dad and her father "Sinverguenza" the shameless daughter.
During the funeral, Liza recalled that she was greeted by Lem's mother. She describe that she was not as pretty as her mom. Lem's mother asked for forgiveness, to whom Liza just nodded without any emotions.
Growing up, Liza always wondered who the boy who kept calling his father on the phone everyday. And now that she had the answer, it broke her heart. She was always Daddy's girl. When it was time for Lem's burial, as they watch his coffin being lowered, Liza's father look at her, and said sorry.
The Sinigang Liza and her Rita Loleng  will be serve as dinner. Everything will be just the same. Her father compliment about the sinigang they cooked and she would smile at her father like she always did. But in this time, the happiness in Liza is true and obviously see in her eyes.

My Moral Values of the Story "Sinigang

MOVE ON: One of the moral values that I apply to me is moving on. Moving on from things that affect to me in the past just like Liza forgave the mistake of her father.

Acceptance and Time: Giving yourself a time to heal and accept things is very well to understand and clear your mind. Liza take her time to heal herself in circumstances,so that when the right time comes she is easily to accept things. Acceptance for me is a virtue to achieve to move on and giving time to myself to heal.

LOVE: When you love the person, no matter what he/she did to you, you always forgive them. The unconditional love in our world is very rare to find and rare to feel to a person. Just like to Liza's father, Liza still accept her father and forgive. Being forgiving if I know the person is regretfull on what she/he have done will lead me to a peaceful mind and peaceful world. I will achieve my happiness to my heart if I try to open myself to the person who hurt me if this scenario happen to me or any scenario that come to me in my life.

THE IMPACT TO ME AS A 21ST CENTURY LEARNER
As a 21st Century learner, the impact to me of the moral values of this story by accepting the mistake of someone that hurt me most.I will not achieve my peace of mind and move forward if I will not allow myself to accept the true.If that scenario happen to me the thing that I will do is to take time for myself to think and step by step learning my self to accept the true. That's why it is called move on or acceptance.Move on from the past, and focus in the present. It is not the end to have a new beggining in life.
